The Journey of Self Discovery (Part 2)

The journey to learn how to harness my mind and understand myself was very difficult. I would often become so overwhelmed with my own thoughts about my past, present, and how I hoped my future would be. Particularly, the uncertainties that Covid brought regarding the future especially rattled my anxieties and confidence. However, my search for answers soon came to an end. On a phone call with my grandfather, I was expressing my difficulties to which he suggested I try yoga. As someone who is deeply involved in spiritual practices, he had recommended that I try yoga prior and even offered to take a class with me. However, I never found the time or interest, frankly, to pursue it. But at this point, I was so desperate to console my inner voices that I took his recommendation to heart. I began with simple videos on Youtube and learned basic positions and transitions. At first, I did not focus too much on the meaning of the poses or connecting my mind to the movements. Rather, I focussed on the memorization,

flexibility, and perfection of each formation. However, as I began to not rely on the videos and created my own combinations using what I knew, I noticed something incredible.
